Versace Fall/Winter 2012 Campaign

After an amazing summer dominating mainstream fashion thanks to ‘that’ H&M collaboration, Versace was riding high; the brand built on this success through its outlandish tropical print runway collection, making it hard to escape the grip of Versace during the current spring/summer season. Their signature style is looming over everything from current high street collections to high fashion campaigns to lookbooks. With this in mind, it was slightly disappointing to see Versace’s autumn/winter 2012 runway show deliver a diluted version of its summer collection – simply muting the colour palette for a more wintery feel (clichéd much?)
However, the collection did contain some great pieces that hawked back to the label’s glory days of the 1980s, so it looks like the 80s trend will stay at the forefront for the coming seasons. Personally, I love how powerful a double-breasted blazer can make you feel – and Versace knows a thing or two about power dressing.
On receiving the campaign shots below, it seems I am going to have to retract the above statements, as the collection is growing on me like a Calvin Harris track. An achievable sexy rock aesthetic for AW12 now seems a viable option! I’m just hoping they reprise the H&M deal for a more wallet friendly version.
