PIKOLINOS: MAASAI COLLECTION 2013.

 

 
The collection brings together fashion and development, colour and comfort, with all the know-how of Pikolinos, one of the largest footwear companies worldwide, which in its more than 25 years of experience has fit millions of people around the world with their shoes. Bright colours straight out of Africa; the essence of Maasai traditions, hand stitched with all the love and strength of the Maasai women.









In the middle of the African savannah, more than 1,600 Maasai women embroider Pikolinos’s leather with their typical patterns, colours and designs. Once they are embroidered, the products are sent back to Spain, where the shoes and bags are finished and distributed.
Each Maasai woman earns a fair wage for her embroidery work, and when a collection is finished, the community receives an extra payment recognizing the men's and children‘s collaboration and involvement.
