Topman LTD – Colonial Collection

As people head into spring, we see the second phase of the Topman LTD ‘Colonial’ collection released.
Modelled by Robert Laby, the Colonial collection offers a variety of men’s apparel and accessories, which includes shirts, polos, chinos and shorts to name but a few. The brand state that it is “all about making a statement with a melting pot of prints, patterns and textures.”
This description couldn’t be more apt, with the Topman designers incorporating a wide variety of striking prints and patterns within the range. Nearly every print you can think of has been integrated – with paisley, floral, Ikat, fan and African designs producing not only a bold statement collection, but an overall clash of cultures as well.
One of my favourite pieces comes in the form of the Brown African short sleeved print shirt (seen below, styled with tailored trousers and a brown holdall). Not only does the intricate pattern represent one of the key trends of the season, it can also be dressed up or down to suit. By pairing it with classic structured trousers, Topman have managed to produce a look that is both sophisticated and stylish – yet still manages to be very fashion forward. Alternatively, you could throw on some chinos shorts and a trilby, to channel a more relaxed summer vibe.
The Colonial collection, for the most part, represents a very wearable range that includes a nice mix of statement and interchangeable classic pieces.
