SWAHILI FASHION WEEK- NAIROBI SHOWCASE
Sunday, October 07, 2012
Finally the Swahili Fashion Week- Nairobi showcase went down yesterday at the Michael Joseph Centre and let me say it was graced by people in a very extravagant way. Since this was the first time that it was happening in Nairobi, Kenya people were anxious to see what was going to be brought on the Runway by the designers. I can say each person was geared up in style looking all glamorous and set to see fabulous creations on the catwalk. The place was fully packed as the tickets were all sold out. The designers did an excellent job and the coordination of the whole event was excellent plus the models not to forget. The designers collections were interesting as each person had there own creativity and individuality but I can say prints and embroidery were mostly seen but who can forget Patricia Mbela who didn't disappoint at all as her designs had great colour schemes, modernized prints, stitching, creativity and the accessories made and used were just on top of the world. I can say she took her stand as one of the best designers we have got in Africa and also Globally. I can't wait to see what the main Swahili Fashion Week fashion show has to offer in December. Credits go to Mustafa Hassanali for bring the event to Nairobi and also for the efforts he has had. Also not forgetting this two guys who were really helpful to each and everyone for the smooth running of the event : Honesty Arroyal and Washington Benbella.

ReplyDeleteThis was truly a great event! Everyone did not only look fab but the show had a completely professional, arty and fabulously fashionable look to it!!!I feel the designers stuck to their standard way of working so nothing too exciting in terms of new styles except for one designer who stood out for me... VAISHALI MORJARIA.Her collection was exciting with a complete new look. I love the way she potrays her mix cultural messages via prints and rich use of fabrics. Her collection was not only sensual but very classy. She is a young designer who is making Kenya proud everyday by representing us in various fields globally!I really appreciate her and her work! Hope to see a new look of styles from her soon.
